Bedroom Inspiration and Decisions to Make

Okay, my inspiration image is no surprise to me....
(source: Rachel Ashwell.com)
 Rachel Ashwell of course...
I love the layering of whites
with the additional soft impact of blue
and of course my rug will bring in a nice touch of colour on the floor.....
but do I go with creamy white walls?
When I first attempted to decorate our bedroom I got stuck on the wall colour....
So....here we go with what I have in this room already...
what I have bought
and what I think needs to stay....
Bought
2 of these .....20$ each...a bit scratched on the top..
but adorable...
paint them creamy white??

 or ...gold...or silver....????

Bought
E-bay....oooohhhh what a good deal
$ 5.25 with shipping of 75$
an all wool rug imported from India...
my pièce de résistance!!

Have
a full wall of PAX wardrobe from Ikea....
storage necessity
but should I change it up??
somehow?
Have
Staying?
Antique dresser, very heavy drawers though
and possibly impractical but I love the style!!
Have
I have two of these lamps, lovely pink-y colour glass base with a velour shade
but
they seem small in this room with these high ceilings ....
I am thinking I could go big
find something that gives a good
sense of drama to the space....

The ceiling is all pine and cathedral...

          Okay,
I really need some help here!!!

  1. Nice space and furnishings.  I love the white antique dresser - keep.  The 2 new end tables are sweet and bring out the darker colour of your new rug but they'd be pretty in creamy white.  Oh my, a lot of decisions.  Can the dark ceiling be painted?  I know it's a big job.  If not, I think I'd paint the walls a soft green from the rug.  Then go with creamy linens.  I'm not a decorator and that is just my very humble opinion :-)  I hope someone else can help you.   Have fun deciding and I can't wait to see the compelted makover.

  10. Looks like you have a great start in your bedroom. It looks like there is a gray or taupe of some kind in the rug. I would go with that for the walls. What are you doing for a headboard? The side tables would be beautiful in a white or silver. I would keep the vintage dresser but would paint it the soft blue that you love or pick up the mustard color in the rug. This would make it a real stand out accent piece. I like the lamps but not for this room. If you go with the white on the nightstands, some silver paint on a couple of taller lamps would really be glamorous. Just my two cents. :) Can't wait to see how it turns out.

  11. Okay Tanya...you are hired! :) Love it when I get advice!
So, the headboard is up in the air. I have been thinking of a upholstered headboard but am in love with an iron head

  13. I see you have both gold and silver in the inspiration picture, so can you use both? I recently did a side table in silver if you want to see how it came out, it's here:  http://www.outofours.com/2011/04/silver-end.html
The inspiration photo is really lovely. I love the look of curtains that are just a little too long. Good luck with it all.
