Christmas in the livingroom

We never seem to go overboard in the living room
at Christmas
but I guess the addition of the tree
is the major part of our decorating there.
We have a divided livingroom with
the woodstove at one end dictating the seating arrangement
of two club chairs on their own
so you can warm up by the fire...
source for all images: me and poor iPhone quality.... ;)
and the music slash TV at the other end dictating
what goes on at that end of the room....
so, this year, it looks like this....
I mean, I figure that I gave you the kitchen so I might as well bare all!!
Hints of Christmas here and there,
moved out the shells from our large candle vase and dropped in
some shiny ornaments

The Christmas tree is decorated with ornaments that we have
collected since our two children have been born...
every year, everyone selects a new ornament for the tree!
Our tree sits in an old metal wash tub
which certainly makes it easy to water...
I am a huge fan of the amaryllis...
every year I feel like I can not get anough of these
planted around the house!

And of course, it is always fun to hang a grapevine wreath
in the backyard
that you can light up at night
and spot out the back window....
but in the meantime, back to my book
 Joyeux Noël tout le monde!

  1. Your living room and tree are charming. Just my kind of cozy space. I especially love all the artwork adorning your wall too - so interesting and stimulating. I'm your newest follower and I hope you get a chance to pop over to Cottage and Creek and follow back. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  2. As I was reading and looking at your picture, I thought what a lovely, charming and cozy room. Then I see Lynn has already said that. I totally agree! The washtub is such a good idea and the wreath on the tree is adorable! What a view!

  3. I love your living room. It's very cozy and you have some wonderful artwork. Of course, I love slip covered furniture and a cozy wood stove with comfy chairs nearby. It's just beautiful! Enjoy, my friend. Hugs, Pamela

  4. Mmmm...I so love your white cushions. My dogs would have those ruined in 30 seconds. Sigh. So clean! I can only see paw prints in my future. andrea@townandprairie

  5. Lynn and Honey, well, cozy is what I was striving for so...thank you! I find it hard not to curl up with a good book!
Pamela, the slipcovers save me over and over again. So you see, Andrea, that is the secret. I have a labrador, used to have a golden retriever that loved the couch and I have two teenagers who love to eat and drink (not supposed to) in the living room. Somehow it all works.

  6. The washtub is inspired. I have my parents' 1950s tree holder that combines the tree holder with a big tub that is similar to your washtub, but even so I want a galvanized tub too!
