Et Voilà ... Bookshelves

Of course it all started with Pinterest
(you can see for yourself...  on my board Bookshelf Love)

It all started back here if you are interested.... (just click)
After rekindling my relationship with our power tools
and
a new appreciation for Wood Filler
and
a lot of white paint
I can finally reveal that my dream of building built-in bookshelves
has finally come true
et voilà .....

If you like this Fleur de Lys bucket then you can check out its chalkboard version here
... and the built-in feature allow it to really just blend in to the overall space
and as you can see...
it is not a big space...
curious about the wall of art, that was a fun Saturday afternoon! You can read more about that here

The fun part of this project is that it cost under 50$
4 pine boards 1 X 8 X 10     30$
white paint    15$
wood filler   already had

à bientôt everyone.

  7. I'm so impressed you built them yourself. They look fantastic. By the way, I love your motto for the year. You're going to get a lot done.

    1. Maureen, that is a newspaper clipping from 1960 of an advertisement for an anniversary sale at our family business. I wanted these bookshelves to be home to some treasures such as that and the schoolbooks that belonged to my grandmother and mother.

  10. Nicely done! There's nothing quite like wood filler and white paint to transform ANYTHING, I think!! Your shelves look really great with their makeover!

  11. @all
It is amazing how a little stress in my life shifts me to a building project and convincing myself that I can do it.

  12. Donna (see, I now know you as yourself in addition to knowing you as Anglo!)...I am impressed with your bookshelves and the fact you built them is great. Glad you have your grandmother's school books. I have a book that was my father's (Language and Literature, Book One, 1914) and I treasure his little boy's handwriting with his name inside the cover.

    1. Jill, isn't it amazing to have these old school books. I can actually picture my grandmother using these books. They are very special!

  13. One cannot have too many book cases! I'll be doing a similar project on either side of my fireplace soon, though I think I'll add feet to mine so I can take them with me when I move to a new home. :) I'm a little shy about saws, so KUDOS to you!
