Vancouver, British Columbia

From chic and funky little boutiques....

to stylish condos...

the city of Vancouver has a lot going for it.

And, hey the views are pretty spectacular...
judging by the view from our hotel room in the early evening...  on to the Vancouver harbour.

And,
if you enjoy a good cup of java then you have come to the right place
because Vancouver-ites obviously love their coffee.

We developed our own love affair with Revolver which serves up a fantastic latté
in a pretty hipster setting....
No, no.... if my son was reading this he would be rolling his eyes.... we are not hipsters.

But that is another interesting thing about this city,
the locals really work with the iffy weather
and succeed in pulling off great individual style...

In general the possibilities are seemingly endless...
Stanley park within walking distance of downtown,
a variety of interesting little areas for shopping and eating
all combine to make this a very intriguing city.

AND hey did I mention that it is mid-February and I am not wearing boots nor a winter coat!
Yes, oh so civilized.

My only question would be.....

Vancouver/downtown Vancouver harbour

Could I live with all this rain?
No surprise really.
Tomorrow I am back to the umbrella store.....

What about you, could you live in a rainy climate?

  1. I lived in Vancouver as a child so I did!
But John hates rain - swears that's why he left the U.K. lol

  2. It's on my list of to-dos... I even have a sister-in-law out there to show us around!

    Gorgeous pictures!

(And why can't you be a hipster? Just because you're a mom? You can be both!)

  3. We lived out in BC for 2-1/2 years and while the mountains are beautiful, the weather drove me nuts. And I REALLY missed the snow. But the rain and lack of sun in winter just drove me bananas. I am an easterner at heart!

I recall that I rarely wore winter boots and most of the time just wore an outerwear vest instead of a winter jacket!

  4. Vancouver is a beautiful city indeed but I don't think I could stand all the rainy days and clouds. I prefer a diverse climate and enjoy 3 of the 4 seasons. lol Winter can be very long in the rest of the country! I could live further inland from Vancouver though towards Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley. Enjoy!

  6. It looks like you are going to have a lot of fun! We just took a little trip to San Diego.

I've visited Vancouver and all it did was rain, but it still was an interesting city. Maybe it is the style of the buildings or how it is right on the water, but it reminded me of Hong Kong on a smaller scale. I really liked taking the ferry to Victoria.

  7. I have been living in a rainy climate, and it has been getting on my very last nerve! I don't see how the folks in Seattle cope, truly I don't. It's sunny today, and I'm loving life (although the kitchen dudes are her and are causing more problems than fixing) :/

  8. Popping in this morning from Ricki Jill's. It's been fun scrolling through your recent posts, seeing more of your home, your inspiration images, and getting to know you. Glad RJ sent me over. I'm now following along. ~ Sarah

  9. I lived there for 18 years and I HATED the rain and was always surprised when someone told me that they loved it! I don't know how they could. I can live with four months of snow and cold much easier than with the dull skies and water falling for months on end.
So the answer to your question is NO, I can't live with the rain.
They do have some fabulous coffee places, though, as well as little lunch places. We were there in October for seven days and we found some great little places. They also have some great antique stores, I hope you're enjoying your stay.
