Stop and Start Projects

I have a feeling that at least "some" of you are like me.
You start one project and turn around and find another that is just as interesting.

Meanwhile, the other is not done.

I am sure there is a psychological term for that...
matter of fact I know there is but
I am not going to get bogged down by terminology... not right now.

I know that I need to finish those jobs already started so back to the fireplace I go....
the bathroom is going to take time and may require more patience than I normally demonstrate
but it will get done.

I was really struggling with the choice of ceramic to place in front of the fireplace.
And, since I decided not to ceramic around the fireplace or add any specific detailing I wanted the
hearth to be fairly simple as well.

I played with a few fancy ceramics on the floor and after returning those I ran out and bought...
slate.... yep, charcoal grey-black slate.
And I am lovin' it.

It is a classic, and I figure that I will not tire of it....
Certainly not a jump up and down, wow perhaps.
But I think given the height of the fireplace it fits in perfectly.

And as you can see there is still more to do with that....
painting, painting and more painting.
That will require some warmer weather so we can open up the doors and keep the air circulating.

It is all details now, simple details.
Yikes.

  1. I'm lovin' the slate too! Great choice and you will not tire of it as you might have something more "decorative."

  3. Slate is always the go to tile.... why didn't you just do that in the first place? Silly! LOL There are reasons that classics ARE CLASSIC! Good choice Donna, enjoy. Love the choice

    1. OH I know...but I always seem to look and look and look to be sure I have made the right choice. Of course in all that looking I get some crazy and wild ideas. BUT, in the end.... I usually, come back to the basic and the classic.
Next time I need you to come shopping with me in the early stages..... :) save me some time.
