Rock Digging

I have taken up rock digging in the last week.
What?
Yes, I have taken to searching for big, small and medium size rocks
around our unfinished back yard in order to create a stone path.

Crazy... well, not really.
We have to prep the back area which will be turned into a terrace in the near future.
I thought that at the same time I could put some of those rocks to use as a new path
which climbs the side of a slope in our back.

It doesn't look like much yet but once it is finished and all the plants have grown in
I think it will feel rather special.
If my children were younger I am sure they would have enjoyed this as a hidden path
as it is to the far side of the property
and somewhat out of sight.

A fun little project.... we will see how it develops.
In the meantime Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there.
I wrote a list for my mom about all that makes her special
and sent it off to her.

She is one of a kind.
What's on your list for your mom today?

  2. Oh, that's a lot of hard work Donna, but I'm sure it will be a nice stair path when it's done. I wish I could send you some of the rocks we have here! We live on a ridge and under the 4 or 5 inches of soil one hits ledge rock. We've been picking rocks in the garden the past week. lol An endless task. Have a wonderful mother's day. My mum passed away over 20 years ago so I remember her and honour her memory today. Hugs. Pam

  4. That's a lot of work hauling rocks and getting them in place but it will be perfect for the landscape when you get it down. I'm still hunting rocks to terrace the slope that comes off my patio. Rocks are hard to come by around here.

That job looks back breaking ( but worth every single ounce of pain because I know it'll be gorgeous !!! )
