This summer has been absolutely fabulous here in Québec!
The weather has been hot, hot, hot and the activities and events have been too numerous to mention in one single post.
We have enjoyed friends and family visits throughout the month of June and July with more to follow in August. Tried out new restaurants, some good, some not so good.
Le Cercle was great and will be a definite return visit. The atmosphere is great down on Rue St. Joseph away from the heavy-duty tourist crowds that are found in the upper town as well as Place Royale. I had the salmon tartare which was fabulous. The wine list is amazing and although pricey we were able to find choices in our price range. The waiters are very helpful and certainly provided us with several opportunities to try out different wines before settling on the bottle of our choice. That was impressive!
Residents of Lac Beauport have been anxiously awaiting the opening of Osoya Thai. Unfortunately I cannot say too much about the food. The rice was really bad and there was only one person out of our party of 6 that enjoyed their meal. Very bland flavours in all the dishes around the table and a feeling that there is no real commitment to the cooking on the part of the kitchen.
The atmosphere and decor is quite lovely. Hopefully with a little time and more customer feedback they will change it around.
UPDATE: We went
back to Osoya Thai to give it another try. This time we went for lunch
but unfortunately we were faced with the same dilemma, bad food, great
atmosphere. We wanted so badly for it to have improved but I cannot say
anything really nice about the food other than the rice was much
better. Very bland flavours.
