Part of the plan is to have more storage in this space for dishes and glasses
as well as give the room an overall "lighter" feeling.
I found these wicker chairs on kijiji last fall....
my favourite go-to spot
so at a mere 15$ each they were a must-have.
Not being a big fan of Forest Green I knew that I would be painting them at some point.

I also wanted to draw the eye away from the dark chairs and allow the focus to be on this very large and rustic table along with the antique black mail centre.....
turned wine cupboard.
AND...
I am loving the results of using BM White Dove on these chairs...
So, step one is complete.
I think the cream colour allows the massive black vintage mail centre to stand out better
behind the rustic pine table.
It also gives me a better perspective for my chandelier choice.
The mirror is temporary and just a little fun change for winter.
If you look closely at the image below you can spot my need for some storage in the room.....

Still to come:
1. chandelier
2. paint chairs
3. paint walls
4. replace small dresser with buffet storage unit
5. paint trim and french doors
6. re-hang art arrangement

DeleteI love those chairs. What a great find for you! And they look better painted white allowing your table and mail boxes to 'shine'. A beautiful look for your dining room!
ReplyDeleteLove the painted chairs, such a difference. Whole room is lighter, brighter. Now I'm having second thoughts about the chandelier! Maybe you should re-consider your favorite, the feminine one?
ReplyDeleteFabulous chairs! Painting them white is definitely better. It makes the room more pulled together. What a great table too, love it!! Great mix in your dining room!

I love the new look of your chairs. Your dining room is lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour dining room is just amazing, and those chairs...LOVE them painted that great shade of taupe. they look perfect in there!!
ReplyDeleteLovely! Great deal on the chairs -- I probably would have passed over them due to the forest green, but you gave them great new life! I really like the look of 2 wicker chairs at each end of a dining table but have been afraid to spend the $$ in fear I would tire of them. But this has inspired me to keep my eye out for a cheap set! Thanks!

I think the chairs look fantastic now. How did you paint them? I have a big wicker basket I'd like to paint, just not sure the best way. Great job in the dining room!

I love how your chairs turned out and what a great cheap find! So jealous. This is the first time I've seen your dining room and I adore that big black cubby hole thing especially with the mirror in front of it....that just makes it! I'd love it if you'd link up at my weekly party...Mod Mix Monday at http://www.modvintagelife.com. I just realized I'd seen your kitchen before and loved it but somehow missed your blog. I'm following now.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a beautiful dining room you have! And I love how you painted the wicker chairs. Hmm...maybe I should do that to my old chairs. So glad I found you, I'm your newest follower!
