I know, I know.....2 posts in one day is highly unusual
but
I just want to get you in the door for souper because if you love seafood then you are going to enjoy a nice feast.
Fresh from the Gaspé coast and brought over to the north side of the St. Lawrence,
lobster is at a really good price and soooo delicious.
Oh and some fresh Matane shrimp for an appetizer.
So relax because while we are in Tadoussac we tend to sit around the table awhile....
and chat.
Yes, some of you figured that out pretty quickly.
We were in Tadoussac.
One of my favourite road trips.
Of course heading there means some time with family and friends
which adds in to the whole weekend.
I have posted about the Hotel Tadoussac before.
It was the location for the old movie, Hotel New Hampshire.
It is a definite landmark in the village
and where most people stay unless you are interested in staying at a small gite or auberge.
And we always treat ourselves to breakfast here....at Café Bohème.
The weather was anything but normal with temperatures reaching 27c and Jack took full advantage of our time at the beach cooling off in the St. Laurent.
Most of the homes are tin roofs with a common slope to allow the snow to run off easily.
The village homes all face the water with breathtaking views.
And there is a whale theme going on since it is home to a variety of whales....
belugas, fins, blue, minkes....
They will be there all summer and we will be back up for a visit
in another month.
In the meantime.... enjoy the lobster.

That lobster is making me drool!! Yummy. This is a beautiful area Donna and the houses are so quaint. The hotel is beautiful with it's red roof and widow's walk on the top. I hope you have a chance to return again in the summer time. It would be a lovely place to relax. Pam
ReplyDeleteOh you have me absolutely pining for a trip to Quebec. Those lobster. The adorable houses with curved roofs. The whales. The mighty St. Lawrence. Thanks for sharing - I'm enjoying living vicariously through you.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are so beautiful that it take your breath away. I feel like I'm travelling along with you.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love those roofs and of course I love those Lobsters. Enjoy those vacations.

It's so charming. I don't think I've ever been there.
ReplyDeleteWhen my father lived in Sarnia, in the summers he use to take us on the ferries that you drive your car on. I remember the towns all had a pretty church. To this day, I love to look at churches.
I hope to visit sometime.....
ReplyDeleteYou saw some breath taking views, I love the picturesque houses and the shops are lovely. Sounds like you had a marvellous time!
ReplyDeleteI'm embarrassed to say I've never been to Gaspe - isn't that just ridiculous living here in Quebec?
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous photos - and I never knew that about Hotel New Hampshire being filmed in the Gaspe - what
a great bit of trivia!
Beautiful post Donna!!!

I have Hotel New Hampshire in my library, think I'll get it off the shelf for a re-read now I see the real one here on your post. Loving your trip vicariously.
ReplyDeleteThe hotel looks so "québécois" to me. Thanks for that lovely trip. I only visited Quebec and Montreal and was so frustrated not to do more, it's nice to be wandering around with you.
ReplyDelete:D I like your road trip posts. LOBSTER!!!! I have to tell ya that lobster is one of my faces, but I rarely have it unless we're at the beach! What a lovely trip. Didn't Jack get cold??? He must love the water!

I don't think I have ever seen Lobster that large..wow....Jack looks like a fun little guy.....Bruce would join him in that water
ReplyDeleteI keep finding new things to look at in these photos. I've never seen roofs that shape, how interesting. The landscape is so lovely, and Jack looks like he's having fun. Does Jack travel well? We need to start taking our doggie with us on trips, although she's an anxious type. (Our animals are always candidates for therapy, is it something in our water? haha)
ReplyDeleteIt all looks like such a fun trip.
