Feel Good Friday

For the moment I have not signed up for an Archetype Me account,
because my obsession with the visual
is satisfied
at this point in time
by Pinterest....

So, hopefully you are in a warmer part of the country and actually living these images
but at -21 this morning and feeling like - 28 in my little world
these images
are so inspirational!!
Simply dreaming of this.....

and also
I am thinking about all the work I need to do in the backyard this year....

But, ready to start making decisions...
because
last year we did a lot of work on our little property moving dirt and creating levels for different purposes...
Our fireplace was one of my favourite designs from last summer .....
You can see more of that project here.

But this year I want to consider the seating areas,
I am already on kijiji searching for some rattan or wicker loveseats for the backyard
but perhaps the sewing could start right now....

I am going to definitely want some fabulous colourful fabric like this below,
no doubt about it!

I bought a gorgeous round table last year and will need to find a good spot for it...
which also means we need to
consider what type of stone terrace we are going to put in.

the lines between the indoors and outdoors
have become quite blurry these days and I must say I do like it.
Do you?

It may be somewhat impractical in our climate given the possibly of a rainy summer,
but that does not stop me from planning for Alfresco dining....
my favourite place to eat in the warmer months is always outdoors.

Hmmm... I have a chandelier for outdoors already purchased
but how to hang it??
Oh and I love the sense of mystery and surprise that a garden gate or entry can provide....

And, I know just where I will eventually work it in...

I have shown you this one before but it is still lingering as always
in the back of my mind....
you see we have this natural spring at the back bottom of our property and it just gets me wondering.....
What if?

Are you already thinking about summer projects?

  1. Ooohhh - I have a board for Al Fresco Dining - and a board on Garden Gates - so I'm happily pinning away here!
Keep warm thoughts Donna - great post!

  2. I also love dining outdoors. Our back deck isn't fancy nor is the furniture but to eat outside on a hot sunny day or evening is my favourite thing. I love the photos of the patio behind the shingled garage and the one below it. Nothing like I'd be able to afford or do here but they really appeal to me. I would love to take off our deck and re-design it with 2 levels. One would be on the ground with a pergola over it so I can hang mini lights and perhaps a candelabra. Dreaming. :)

  3. Those are spectacular photos. One could always have their dining area covered either by a big umbrella or something more permanent.

A stone patio is pretty. I like the ones that use native stove, so what's local for your area. Here it would be flagstone, but it makes me feel hot because of the color. So, I guess that doesn't always work!

And thank you. Yes, good trades are hard to come by, and when you find one it's good to keep them. That's what we tried to do, but it backfired yesterday, but resolved it with another company today. I hope you can get someone else out from that company to figure out what the guy did wrong with the switches!

    1. I love the gray and black flagstone that we have here but it would be really expensive for the size of our space. I saw some possibilities but still looking.
Ha! Electricity has become a real issue around here and we still need to turn the outside lights on in order to use the lights in our offices.
Can you email me at anangloinquebec@gmail.com?

  4. Hi Donna,
I love all of your great outdoor ideas, I love eating outside, too. I also like to put indoor furniture outdoors, but no, I'm not planning next summer's projects yet, I've got so much to do indoors this winter still.
    Hugs, Cindy
