A lot of people looking for a bit of that "French" feeling in North America
seem to always ask me for travel advice..... where to stay on the cheap..... where to eat.....
on the cheap etc., basically a variety of questions about what they should see in a 3-5 day trip.

Ahhh I am glad I made you smile!!! Are you possibly looking for that blogger addiction hotline # for me?
DeleteI have noticed that some people have four or five! That would definitely be too many. Two's not bad.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Cindy
Yikes....you are right .....too many. Two will be my limit!
DeleteI stumbled upon your blog accidentally and was so grateful that I did! Initially it was your home and your decor esthetic that led me to your blog. But, when I found you I noticed that you had advice and tips about visiting your area (we ski and we visited St. Anne and Le Massif, staying in Beauport), I was delighted! My family and I took a trip to Quebec two years ago and fell in love! Sadly we weren't able to make a return trip this year but will be making our way back out next winter. And now that you have a blog totally devoted to Quebec, I'm even more excited!!! Thank you so much. You've made a family from Kitchener, Ontario very pleased and anxious to travel back to Quebec!
ReplyDeleteKim :)
Hey Kim that is great! You must have fallen in love with the runs at Le Massif....you feel like you can just ski right into the river at points. I hope that I can provide you with some insider tips for your next trip to Quebec. Often people are surprised when they come and realize that they can be in the old city of Quebec one day and on the slopes the next!
DeleteLet me know when you come back! Just leave me a comment and I will be glad to help you out.
Salut!
Donna, thank you so much. It was such a memorable trip for so many reasons. Our drive out to Quebec coincided with 'The Storm of the Century'. The snow was unbelievable! But the scenery was breathtaking, the food amazing and the skiing was fantastic! Definitely worth that scary drive. Nothing has compared to Le Massif as yet and we can't wait to come back. My kids are both in French immersion here in Ontario but I have to say how horribly embarrassed I was with my own lack of ability when it came to communicating. But, everyone we met was so accommodating and lovely. From now until we return, I'm definitely going to be brushing up on my French! I love your section on the phrases. I can't wait to show my kids, they'll love that. Thanks again and I'll be sure to send you any questions we have before returning. Hopefully we'll be there for Carnival!
DeleteThanks again... Kim :)
Not sure you will be back to read this but one thing that is fun for your kids to know is that the expressions are very 'Québécois. (K-bec-kwah)I am always a bit annoyed that students in other parts of the country often learn French from France and then come here and find themselves struggling to understand and to be understood. It is always in the little bits of slang that I find they feel less comfortable and of course the speed doesn't help. We have had many kids stay with us through the years practicing their French and they always end up wanting to learn some slang so that they can fit in with the kids their age. I plan to add sections to that over the course of the next few months so hopefully there will be some little phrases there that they can practice.
